A 2010 full of engagements for David Alegret
David Alegret continues to blaze a trail on the international circuit. As well as a "Rossinian" 2010 in which he has returned to the Hamburg State Opera to play Narciso from Il Turco in Italia and performed in the production of Armida that Garsington Opera (England) has programmed for this summer, Alegret has performed other repertoire on which he also lavishes a great deal of attention: that of oratory. Last March he sang Caldara's Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo in the Teatro Arriaga, Bilbao and in the Misteria Paschalia Fesival in Krakow with the Accademia Bizantina Orchestra conducted by Stefano Montanari. Other high profile engagements await him, such as a Schumann-Brahms concert in the Torroella de Montgrí Festival and the Schubertíada de Vilabertrán Festival near Girona, in which he will perform Schubert's Mass in C major and at the end of the year he will sing Rossini's Stabat Mater in St. Gallen, Switzerland. This will be followed by a debut in the Montpellier Opera House in Giachino Rossini's Semiramide. The works of this composer are particularly suited to Alegret's voice.
