David Alegret returns to Italy with Rossini

The tenor from Barcelona will sing Narciso from Il Turco in Italia in Treviso and Ferrara. January 2015 After performing in the Pesaro Rossini Opera Festival in July 2012 with Il Signor Bruschino, the Catalan tenor David Alegret will return to the Italian opera scene, this time to take another Rossini role, that of Narciso in Il turco in Italia. Alegret will be performing in the Teatro Comunale in Treviso (on the 28th and 30th January and the 1st February) and at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara (6th and 8th February); this will be a new co-production which includes the above-mentioned theatres as well as the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz Métropole and the Teatro Municipale of Piacenza. The opera is directed by Federico Bartolani and Alegret will share the stage with Marko Mimica (Selim), Cinzia Forte (Donna Fiorilla) and Giulio Mastrototaro (Don Geronio), among others. In both theatres the opera will be conducted by Franceso Ommassini. David Alegret has recently been very successful in operas such as Mosè in Egitto, also by Rossini – a composer who has influenced the Catalan singer´s career - performing at the Welsh National Opera (United Kingdom) and with the BBC Orchestra; Il Turco in Italia in Luxemburg and also Mozart´s Requiem in Madrid conducted by Ivor Bolton. He is soon to give a recital of Lied at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, in which he will perform the Diechterliebe, by Schumann and a selection of songs by Eduard Toldrà accompanied by Rubén Fernandez Aguirre on piano; he will sing in Così fan tutte at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; Das Lieberverbot, by Wagner, at the Teatro Real in Madrid; Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the ABAO-OLBE in Bilbao; Semiramide at the Marseilles Opera; and Hayden´s Oratorio The Creation at the Barcelona Palau de la Música.
