David Alegret sings Beppe in Pagliacci at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona
The tenor David Alegret will return to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in April to play the role of Beppe in the opera Pagliacci, by Leoncavallo. He will do no less than 12 performances on the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th and 19th April in a double programme in which the theatre also includes Mascagni´s Cavalleria Rusticana. It is a co-production by the Bologna Teatro Comunale and the Catania Teatro Vincenzo Bellini, directed by Liliana Cavani. The renowned singers José Cura, Marcello Giordani, Ángeles Blancas and Inva Mula will also be performing in the production, and they will be alternating in the roles of Canio and Nedda respectively. The musical director is Daniele Callegari, who will be conducting the Liceu Symphony Orchestra. After performing in Pagliacci, the tenor will be facing a hectic spring in which he will be singing in Rossini´s Petite Messe Solemnelle in the Enric Granados Auditori in Lleida, Mozart´s Requiem in the Barcelona Auditori and will return to Garsington Opera (England) to perform in Rossini´s Il Turco in Italia.
