David Alegret: a Rossinian tenor at Garsington Opera (England)
The Spanish tenor David Alegret is returning to Garsington Opera in June to sing the role of Don Narciso in Il Turco in Italia. Alegret has already played this and many other Rossini roles in prestigious opera houses throughout Europe such as the Hamburg Staatsoper, the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Theatre an der Wien and will appear in seven perfomances of the Il Turco in Italia on the 3rd, 6th, 13th, 18th, 24th and 28th June and the 3rd July in Garsington. He will be peforming with the Garsington Opera Orchestra and choir, conducted by David Parry and directed by Martin Duncan. David Alegret first appeared in this English Festival in June 2010 in another Rossini opera Armida, a title which he will record for the label Opera Rara next September. His most noteworthy future engagements include peformances in el Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, with Martin y Soler’s Il burbero di buon cuore and Il Turco in Italia, and a concert in the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona in which he will perform Schubert´s Die schöne Müllerin song cycle.
